Just unwrapped the first paper layer then the second laminated paper aluminum layer. Easy! No, I mean those wrapped in laminated foils. The three side seals, two side seals and one center seal. Both side seals have a zig zag finish for easy opening. Pull the “v” shape cut apart to tear it open and get the gum. Sounds easy. Right?
I often got annoyed with it. Opening just a single pack almost always takes more than 30 seconds. Sometimes throwing a stubborn pack away. I frequently find myself reaching for the scissors or a pointed knife to cut it open. The old paper packs are still available but not in nearby sari-sari store.
1) Opening is impossible with wet, oily or sweaty hands. One hand will surely slip off.
2) It never open as expected. The end become stretched thus making the tearing by hand impossible. Flip and try the other end.
3) The package opens but not wide enough to free the gum.
4) It opens straight down but gum splits apart together with the foil. Falling to floor is likely when it happens.
The proper way. Probability of failure is low.
Flip the bubble gum so the center seal faces you and the seal fold is facing the left hand. Hold the upper left end with left fingers. Lift the center fold and hold it with right fingers. Pull apart gently to create a wide opening.
I still prefer the old paper wrap. Easy to open. No hassle. Of course opening is a breeze with scissors. That is if scissors is always available.
