Stomach of a newborn baby is very delicate, the only food for him is breastmilk or infant formula. His digestive system is not yet developed and lacks probiotic bacteria.

As the baby grows, his digestive system will develop slowly and able to eat select foods (starting from soft biscuits, potato, squash and carrots). Then start harboring good and bad microorganisms inside his stomach. Good bacteria will normally prevail cause human tummy is acidic. However, this is not always the case. There are times when bad bacteria become dominant and cause various problems.

We went to pediatrician last month. The pedia told us to buy Yakult and feed it to our baby. The purpose is to help him gather a good amount of good bacteria in his tummy.

According to its manufacturer, Yakult contains billions of probiotic bacteria, the Lactobacillus casei Shirota. One bottle everyday is enough to help maintain a healthy tummy. They used to monopolized the competition but now Nestle Chamyto comes into play. Though I have never tried it yet.

Are you asking, ” Are they really effective”? The answer is yes for me.

I used to work in state university. Their water supply was reported to have high coliform content (e.g. Escherichia coli). Every time I drink the water, I always suffer from bowel movement difficulty. The symptoms usually last from several days to two weeks.  I was not sure if the cause was the coliform bacteria or there are other unknown substance in water.

Do you knows what can cure this? Its Yakult! My tummy feels at ease after drinking  two bottles of Yakult for two consecutive days. I can never explain how it works but it is indeed a real cure.

I guess Nestle Chamyto has the same effect!

  • NEVER trust a product with no Contact Details (Customer Service) on their package, particularly Yakult. They have poor QA and poor customer relations.
