Almost 500 kilograms of buffalo meat was confiscated at Blumetrit, Manila. The meat was confiscated due to following reasons:
2) It never undergone safety inspection. The meat might be contaminated and not safe for human consumption.
3) Importation of buffalo meat is allowed provided that it goes directly to meat processing plant. Selling of buffalo meat at any point is prohibited.
4) Selling of illegal meat is also prohibited under Manila City Ordinance.
Buffalo meat sells 180 per kilogram. Much lower compared to beef which sells for 230 per kilogram. Buffalo meat is mixed with cow meat to increase the income of meat processors. The good example of this is the corned beef.
