Taking Too Much Vitamin C (Megadosing) For Treatment of Common Colds

I thought I was megadosing Vitamin C but it turned out I am just getting the right amount.

The maximum recommended dose is 2,000 mg per day. It should not exceed and if it does exceed. Please remember that anything in excess is harmful.

I consider my work stressful. Doing office work from 7 am to 6 pm plus doing sideline job from 7 to 11 pm, Monday thru Thursday. Full sideline on Friday. Masteral studies on Saturdays. Rest hours + extra work on  Sundays. Note, I still need to find time for my family.

To prevent myself from catching colds often, I am trying to get enough rest, balance diet and taking two nutrient supplements. I am taking Enervon Multivitamins in the morning (has 500 mg Vitamin C) and a Vitamin C tablet after dinner (500 mg). A total of 1,000 mg Vitamin C daily.

Other webs are recommending 6oo to 1,000 of Vitamin C for prevention of common colds. For cure, the practice is to take one gram three times daily for 14 days. It is in excess of 1,000 mg of the 2,000 recommended maximum limit.

The scheme I mentioned is only for prevention and treatment of common colds. Curing and prevention of other ailments may require different strategy.
