Sister-in-law is regularly making banana turon for sale. It is really salable and helping them earn extra cash for their daily needs. But more sales and income could be generated with variety of food products. Buying a single kind everyday is boring. People are looking for a different food everyday. She added two more products, the banana cue and the maruya or banana fritters.
The maruya was a recent addition so I bought it instead of the other two. I missed maruya so bad. I was still a child the last time I ate fritters. It was just plain maruya, no banana or whatsoever filling.
The looks of it was not really appealing. I wish she could do something to make the edges clean and smooth. Lets stop judging the book by its cover. These taste awesome!
Want some maruya? here is the simple recipe.
saba bananas, ripe
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup flour
1 large egg
1 cup milk
sugar to taste
1) Slice banana thinly, lengthwise or crosswise depending on your preference. Set aside.
2) Mix flour, egg, milk, baking powder, and sugar. Add more flour if the mixture is too fluid.
3) Add banana slices to mixture.
