Sweet Potato Recall Due to Grit Contamination

Some Sweet Potato with Rosemary and Garlic of McCain Foods was recalled due to grit contamination. The product should not be eaten even if the grit is not considered harmful.grit food recall

The recalled product is:

  • Product: McCain Sweet Potato with Rosemary and Garlic
  • Pack size: 400g
  • Lot numbers: Only lot numbers starting with the following four digits are affected: 0104, 0105, 0106, 0107, 0117, 0118, 0119, 0120, 0146, 0147, 0148, 0149

The lot numbers are 10 digits long and can be found on the back of the pack, next to the ‘best before’ date.

The company has recalled the affected product from consumers and issued a press release, which appeared in the national press today, Wednesday 22 December 2010. Point-of-sale notices have also been issued explaining why the product has been recalled.
