Has Anyone Tried the Vitamin B17 for Cancer Treatment?

While Vitamin B17 sounds truly new to me, it was not new to the world. According to draxe.com, Vitamin B17 or laetrile was first used in Russia around mid 1800 to help cure cancer. Gained popularity in US by 1970s with more than 70,000 individual users. So it has been existing two centuries ago and became popular a decade before I was born.

Despite, it is not approved by FDA. It is illegal to sell such. Few animal studies shows it has anti-cancer activities but FDA feels the need of more proof.

There is no recommended dose of intake. Can be taken orally or intravenously. However, the problem lies on its legality. Selling is illegal so obtaining is rather hard. It is in black market trade.  If you get caught on middle of transaction, the seller will suffer the consequence while you can walk away free.

Selling is prohibited but possession is not. Plus, there is a natural and healthy way to obtain it. It is by eating fruit seeds like apricot, peach and apple. Those fruit seeds naturally contain high levels of laetrile. Feasting on the three fruits would be a wiser choice. Desperately getting your hands on oral preparation might put you in danger. Who knows what you might get is fake.

Intake has side effects. In some cases, it may cause nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, skin discoloration, liver damage, low blood pressure, mental confusion and in worse case death.

Maybe these reactions are due to high dose intake. But with the absence of authorities approval and recommended doses, it is hard to know what is less and what is over.

If we consider the words “to much of anything is bad”. The author of “gubayano 30 days treatment protocol” set a limit to it. It results to unwanted side effects when taken continuously beyond 30 days.

Healthytipsworld.net has a post entitled “Vitamin B17 Is Banned Because It Cures Cancer”. It includes a video where a woman testifies she cured five tumors after Vitamin B17 treatment.

I like his title construction because it is exactly how I think. Perhaps, most people feel the same way. Cancer treatment industry is a huge business and proliferation of cheap and natural cures would kill it.

On contrary, after the graviola fruit became popular as natural cancer cure, other fruits, herbs and formulas that claims to cure cancer are popping like mushrooms.  It is hard to determine which are true and which are lies.  Trying them all relentlessly would do more harm than good.

Radon, Naturally Occuring Cancer Causing Substance

Too much sun exposure may cause skin cancer. Until yesterday, I’ve always though that it is the only natural force of nature that causes. It boggled me to discover one more, the radon.

It is cancer causing radioactive gas. It cannot be seen, smelt or tasted. It is like notorious criminal. It will rob and injure you suddenly without warning.

Radon became one of the leading cause of lung cancer in the US. It is the number one cause among the non-smokers, according to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimate. Younger population are at higher risk. Cigarette smoking and high radon levels put the smoker at higher risk. That is due to synergistic action of cigarette smoke and radon.

Where can be found?

It is naturally occuring radioactive gas which comes from natural breakdown of uranium, through another atom known as radium. Found in igneous rock and soil, and water in some case.

US has maps showing danger zones. I cannot find any for Philippines. Maybe we are safer or maybe not. Or, maybe we are not giving it enough attention. Dirty politics is more important to us.

Chances are we are already inhaling it since time immemorial. For emphasis, we have here igneous rock, soil and water.

Concerned? Add it as one of criteria when choosing place to build home. In case you are already settled, there are ways to check radon emmision and control it to acceptable levels.

Staying in confined area such as caves and poorly ventilated building underground increase the risk of radon exposure.

Banana Brown Spots Fight Cancer?


Let me guess! This what you are doing whenever you have ripe bananas. You let it ripe to the fullest until you can see numerous brown spots on peel surface. You believe, the more spots it has the more anti-cancer properties it possess. Why is that? Because you saw it on you favorite wall!

I did few days of intermittent reading about it and found out all different posts and claims point to results of Japanese researchers Haruyo Iwasawa and Masatoshi YamazaKi:

There are no conclusive facts that it fight cancer. Yes it has antioxidant substances that increase as it ripen. But, those are not necessarily and specifically anti-cancer. Their conclusion was broad and suggestive. They didn’t even mention it in discussion of results.

In Introduction – phytochemicals have been shown to play various roles in protecting the body from diseases — anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory anti-allergic and anti-cancer effects.

I’m sure all fruits and vegetables have phytochemicals. So if eating overripe bananas can help you fight cancer and other diseases, then others can do the same too.

In my opinion. It is okay to let bananas go overripe but don’t let it go to the point of near spoilage. Start eating a hand when it is ready and you’ll find some are overripe before end. Start eating a hand when overripe and you’ll be forced to consume it all in one go.

Baking Soda as Cancer Cure?

Without elaborate introduction, the claim boils down to preventing the body to go on acidic condition, or alkalizing it to naturally fight cancer. Hmm… I know the acidic condition frequently cause stomach ache which can lead to ulcer. There is another, the alkaline water and devices producing alkaline water are marketed to promote good health. Then, if sodium bicarbonate can naturally cure cancer by alkalizing the body, it is safe to assume that alkaline water has the same effect. The articles added that body’s beneficial bacteria (known to produce anti-cancer vitamins like biotin, B12, folic acid and vitamin K) cannot thrive in acidic conditions.

It make sense. Here is a reverse idea. Rather than alkalizing ur body by ingesting this sodium bicarbonate and other antacid stuff, why don’t we just refrain from consuming foods that increase body acidity. The likes of carbonated drinks, instant juice & teas, junk foods and the likes. However, pointing the cause of cancer to a single fungus is overboard. Most doctors, educated people and those with bare knowledge wouldn’t agree.

He pointed out that cancer is solely cause by a fungus called Candida albicans. This is how it is…

Once in the blood stream they can colonize certain local areas of the body and greatly reduce the oxygen levels in that area. Sodium Bicarbonate… safe at dilution of 5%, seems. Extremely diffusible throughout the body. Changing body pH and fungus structure, fungus has no time to adapt. 5% solution for 8 days cycles.. no further details on how to use as treatment.

Tablet Intake, Colon Cancer and more…

Taking medications when sick is good but not always beneficial. This thought came to my head again when someone told me the relationship of medicine intake and colon cancer. Scary! What we think should help us do harm instead.

Tablet intake is one of the causes of colon cancer. Medicines that are suppose to dissolve in small and large intestines are readily digested upon arrival to stomach. Do not know what the next story but perhaps the cancer risk is higher on high tablet intake.

Ever heard of the term “mag-asawang gamot (coupled medicine)“. It is a popular buy from sari-sari store and often recommended by store owners and neighbors. It’s a combination of pain reliever and antibiotic (don’t know the specific brand names). The latter should only be taken upon doctor’s prescription. There is a risk of antibiotic resistance. Continue the indiscriminate intake and there is no antibiotic type working on you sooner or later. I know someone who is severely suffering from such. He became a regular hospital customer, often needed confinement from a common cold.

Pain reliever only helps alleviate the pain. It never do anything to pull out the root cause. Taking it during gout attack will only ease the pain or shorten the duration but will never help in prevention of future and more severe occurrences. Proper diet and regular exercise is the way to go.

Asking second opinion cost money. However, beating the wrong diagnosis will surely cost less than taking wrong medication. I knew two persons who took rheumatism drug for a long time and later found out their problem were kidney and liver related. Their real diseases were worst when discovered.

Banana Peels, Brown Spots, Lutein, Serotonin and Cancer


I heard humors about banana peels having brown to black patches may cause cancer. The more spots it gets the more dangerous it becomes.

Authenticity of the following could not be guaranteed.

Banana peel is not dangerous and indeed has good effects. It is good for the eye and helps fight depression.

Boiling banana peels and drinking the cooled water is recommended. It is reach in serotonin and lutein. Serotonin is a mood balancing chemical that eases depression. Lutein is an antioxidant that prevents eye damage.

The flesh has the anti-cancer effect, not the peel.

Japanese professor said, yellow skin bananas with dark spots are eight times more effective in fighting cancer than green skin varieties. Bananas produces the substance called TNF, tumor necrosis factor. The riper the banana, the more TNF it produce and  the more effective it becomes.

Further reading is not necessary as other articles are pointing to the same Japanese study.

In postharvest point of view. Brown spots in banana peels may indicate occurrence of disease, but not necessarily rendering it unfit for human consumption. On the other hand, bananas in perfect condition will still produce brown spots as it ripens. It increase as the fruit ripens until it reaches the full brown, saggy and inedible stage.
